Mr. Gonzalez received a Bachelor of Business Administration, with a concentration in Finance, from the University of Texas at San Antonio.  After graduating in 1985, he joined the Laredo National Bank where he was a bank credit analyst and led the analyst team at the San Antonio loan production office.

In 1988, Mr. Gonzalez joined the Loan Review team at Chase Bank of Texas in Houston, Texas.  He was part of a team which traveled throughout the state reviewing the loan portfolios of various Chase Banks and assigning risk assessments and reserving capital for problem loans.

In 1995, Mr. Gonzalez joined the American General Corp. Investment Group where he had several roles including investment grade fixed income analyst, commercial paper trader, and international equities portfolio manager. This investment grade fixed research coverage included electric utilities, integrated oils, and telecoms.

In 1998, Mr. Gonzalez returned to Chase in the Asset Management group where he led the investment grade research team and was a member of the Investment Management Team. Total AUM at the time was over $19 billion.  Additionally, he provided research coverage on integrated oils, telecoms, and electric utilities for the Chase Asset Management (New York) money market funds, which totaled $230 billion.

In 2001, Mr. Gonzalez returned to Laredo National Bank in the LNB Investments group where he managed over 60 retail brokerage accounts.  Additional responsibilities included managing the bank’s trust department investment assets, both equities and fixed income, as well as advising the bank’s treasury department on their investment portfolio, primarily fixed income.

In 2003, Mr. Gonzalez joined Smith, Graham & Co. Investment Advisers as Head of Fixed Income Research. He covered both Investment Grade and High Yield issuers. Mr. Gonzalez was also part of the Investment Management Team working with the portfolio managers on securities selection.  During his tenure, the performance of the fixed income funds was consistently in the top quartile ranking as measured by Lipper.

In 2006, Mr. Gonzalez joined Global Liquidity Group of Invesco Advisers, Inc., and he ascended to Head of Global Liquidity Research with the funds totaling over $220 billion in 2023. Research coverage included US and European banks.  Mr. Gonzalez was also very involved with portfolio management decisions, client engagement, new product evaluations, and new product launches, including a treasury only ETF (ticker – TBLL) initially designed as a collateral pledge option to treasuries at the CME. The Global Liquidity funds were consistently in the top quartile performance ranking as measured by Lipper.

Mr. Gonzalez was appointed by the Mayor of Houston to serve as a trustee on the Houston Municipal Employees Pension System Board from 2010 to 2013.

After being with Invesco Advisors Inc. for 17 years, Mr. Gonzales returned to Houston and joined Garcia Hamilton & Associates in 2023. Though new to the Firm, Mr. Gonzalez has worked closely with several of the current GH&A employees when they were at prior firms.

Other awards include 2014 Fixed Income Investment Grade Manager of the Year, 2015 Intermediate-Term Fixed Income Manager of the Year, and 2016 Intermediate-Term Fixed Income Manager of the Year by Institutional Investor.
